On September 12th, 2024, the End Malaria Council (EMC) commemorated World Mosquito Day at Chief Lumpuma’s palace in Lufwanyama District. The EMC was led by the Chair, Dr. Godwin Beene (Country Manager for First Quantum Minerals Limited). The event was jointly organised with His Royal Highness Chief Lump and the Ministry of Health. The event brought together different stakeholders from public, private, religious, youth, and the community.
Among the key highlights of the event was the launch of the first ever End Malaria Enterprise, called “Growing Maize for Malaria Elimination.”. A contract was signed between Chief Lumpuma and the End Malaria Council to symbolise commitment to the End Malaria Enterprise. At the same event, the EMC handed over 175 bicycles to the District Health Office for Community Health Workers.
The bicycles were mobilised through the buy bicycle campaign, which is the resource mobilization initiative in responding to the call for support from the Ministry of Health.
